The Girl on the Train, pulled into MK Theatre with a brilliant stage adaptation of Paula Hawkins’ bestselling psychological thriller.
And thriller it is, directed by Loveday Ingram, the show delivers a superb cinematic theatre experience that engages the audience from start to finish.
The storyline is gripping, full of twists, turns, ups and downs with moments of pure drama. It follows Rachel Watson as she commutes daily, witnessing her growing obsession of peeking into the lives of a couple she regularly catches glimpses of on her railway journey.
One day, Rachel sees something shocking take place in the garden of the strangers Through this, Rachel gets involved with the authorities as witness to a murder, or is she actually a suspect?
The entire cast were on top form, delivering with great depth, tempo and moments of well-timed humour.
The stage set and tech, was superb, especially as the production reaches its climax with the main characters dramatically positioned around a railway track.
The clever use of lights, sound and projected imagery provided a brilliant backdrop for the actors to deliver the final conclusion.
Tense, teasing and thought provoking, The Girl on the Train is well worth the ticket for an emotional ride.
